The Raspberry Pi Global Shutter Camera is a specialised 1.6-megapixel camera designed to capture rapid motion without the distortion artifacts typical of rolling shutter sensors. It's ideally suited for fast motion photography and machine vision applications where even small amounts of distortion can seriously impact inference performance.
Featuring the Sony IMX296 sensor with a large pixel size of 3.45μm × 3.45μm, the Global Shutter Camera provides high light sensitivity and can operate with exposure times as low as 30μs when adequately lit. It uses the same C/CS-mount lens assembly as the Raspberry Pi High Quality Camera for broad lens compatibility.
